Star Rating: ★★★★★
I think it is known by now that I am a huge fan of Holly Bournes writing in her YA novels.
I loved the spinster club, I loved it only happens in the movies and I was so excited to hear she had written an adult novel. Adult novels are something that I do not tend to pick up as I am truly fanscinated by Ya fiction. I was interested to see if there were any differences and to be blessed by another fantastic novel. I can say... I was not disappointed.
The book surrounds lead character Tori Bailey who is an author of a best selling memoir that has inspired many women surrounding relationships and life throughout the twenties. She has her relationship with partner Tom and has one of the most easily read friendships with her pal Dee who is easily one of my favourites in this book.
Bourne's writing is smooth and easy to read and she has created a character who I felt sorry for and laugher along with her wit and humour throughout. Tori is someone who I could easily connect with and embrace what she said on every page.
The book has a few twists and turns but there was never a section where I felt bored and it made me want to continue reading at all times. Bourne had great characterisation throughout but I loved the status updates, text messages etc. at the start of each section of the book. Did I mention that it wasn't really chapters? The book was split over a period of 9 months and it allowed you to progress with Tori over her troubles and life.
Bourne really deserves the five stars for the humour used within the novel.
I don't think there was a section that I didn't laugh. She is hilarious.
I wish this book success and encourage anyone who is reading to go and pick up a copy.
Thanks for reading today!
